Five Pillars of Islam Essay - 1237 Words

The Five Pillars of Islam After watching The Five Pillars of Islam it has made me rather interested in the history and origin of the Islamic religion. So often today we see the Islam as a religion of terrorism, and war. We see it as a religion of people that have nothing in their heart but bad. The truth is that Islam was started on principles very different from what we see in the news or hear on the radio. Islam rather has a long rich history that is full of some of the same principles and morals of Christianity that are seen in the western world as the foundation of good. They are a set of rules that are the foundation of the†¦show more content†¦They must be prayed on a mat and people must wash before prayer all in an attempt to show the servant status of the human being in relation to Allah. This is again very similar to the beliefs of the Christian church. Although the people in the Christian church can pray what they want when they want they very often times pray prayers that are set for them at designated times. Even Jesus told his people that when they come together to pray what there Father had taught them, this set prayer has become known as the Lord’s Prayer. Both in the Islamic faith and in the Christian church these prayers are prayed in an attempt to please god. It is a way that mortal humans can show there respect for their god. It is interesting to me how two religions viewed as such total opposites can have such similar beliefs and rituals. Zakah is the third pillar that is the belief that Muslims are to set aside a portion of their income to help the poor. It is believed by the Muslim people that by helping the poor their own wealth will be made pure. It is a way for them to show Allah that they are thankful for what they have been given. In much the same way the Christian church teaches the same thing. The Christian’s offering is their tithe. Both religions give in much the same manner, they give because they feel that it is a way for them to show both their respect and reverence to their god. It aims at achieving a healthy state free from diseases and injury, for the achievement of high health standards for the citizens of all age cadres. The plan approaches the health issue in three dimensions that is prevention, health promotion and health protection. Description of the plan The health plan lays basis on the first health intervention plan of 2011-2015. The plan has a bigger aim of reducing the inequalities in health and well being. The plan lays the responsibility of health on various factors which include the family, community, voluntary people, private sector, education system and all levels of government have the responsibility of improved health. The plan targets all residence of the Victoria region. The plan sets strategic shift for change and bringing out improvements, which focuses on prevention, health promotion and health protection. The plan is being drafted by the government and implemented by the partner agents, government and other stakeholders in the health sector. The new plan of action consisted of hiring new employees and investing in infrastructure to anticipate growth and new forms of technology; the poor management habits of the past from would not hinder Starbucks in the future. Similar to my suggested plan of action, Schultz’s initiative consisted of new employee’s, new technology and investing in the short term. If Schultz’s would have put more funding towards infrastructure to bring stability in the long run, he would have been able to manage the shift in consumer behavior and maintain profit without the need to close down the stores for retraining. The issue for Starbucks is not losing customers but how to accurately represent the company’s values. Moreover, if the employees were chosen correctly and the infrastructure was properly optimized, Schultz plan would have worked perfectly. All in all, every company in any industry is going to face challenges and have limited resources to meet them in an efficient manner. Howard Schultz used the resources he had to best manage Starbucks and handled the big issues he had efficiently and creatively. The future of Starbucks all depends on its management and commitment to adhering to the company vision and values. After experiencing the 2000-2008 period, one can see that the values will inevitably shift with changes in management. 4] The future of Starbucks is highly dependent on how long Howard Schultz continues to be an active part of the company and in shaping its vision. If affiliates and employees are chosen intelligently and have values matched properly with the company’s mission, Starbucks’s vision should be passed down effectively through each generation of new management. Nevertheless, the rise and fall of competitors in a market is inevitable and time will tell if Starbucks will eventually be surpass ed by a competitor. Starbucks will be a primary educational focus for many business programs. It is one of the best managed franchises in history and will remain one of the most successful for a long period of time. Like any business, Schultz received criticism for extreme responses yet these responses excelled the growth of the company. Much like my suggestions, Schultz acted quickly and made extreme changes which were crucial to repairing the infrastructure.
